Toy Cars IV

This is the last image in this mini-series, I do have some more model-style images, but want to post a few different images first. The process for generating these images is fairly simple. Basically it is a case of increasing saturation and sharpness and then applying a LensBlur depth mask ( to blur the top and bottom of the images ). There are some other excellent examples on the web, here is one of the best:

It requires photoshop and the lensblur facility ( not sure which versions support this - i think it may be just CS2 ).
The LensBlur feature can use a depth mask ( white is maximum blur, black is no blur ) and apply it to the image, here is how to do it:

* Duplicate the layer.
* On the duplicate layer use the gradient tool for the depth mask. I create 2 gradients ( white at top to black in middle, then white at bottom to black in middle - you will probably need to use the selection tool for the second gradient ).
* Copy this gradient layer to the clipboard ( then hide this layer )
* Go to "Channels" view and create a new channel - it will be called "Alpha 1".
* Paste the gradient into the new channel.
* Then goto "Filter->LensBlur".
* In the depth mask section select the "Alpha 1" mask.
* Done.

Now you just need to play around with the blur amount and the size / length of your gradients.
